Whatsapp the world’s most popular instant messaging app worldwide. The App is now being actively used by more than 2 billion people worldwide, with India being the 3rd largest market currently with over 400 million users. New features are being rolled out every now and then by the makers to enhance the user’s experience. Adding up 8 users to a group video or audio call was the most anticipated feature of all time. With the recent update, Whatsapp has introduced the most amazing features that one can benefit from during this situation. Here’s how you can try the new features out:
1. Group Video/Audio Calling
The most anticipated feature of all, which was much needed during this period has been rolled by Whatsapp. Now you include up to eight people instead of just four to a group video or audio call. In order to reach the new upper limit, everyone on the call will need to be running the latest updated version of the app.
2. Forward Message Limit
With heightened scrutiny on the potential of private message apps to spread misinformation related to the covid – 19 pandemic. Whatsapp has now reduced the limit to forward a message to 1. The company says that with the new limit, the number of messages forwarded has decreased by 70 percent worldwide. Before the app allowed a message to be forwarded to 5 users and with the new feature rolled out has been reduced to 1.
3. New Group Privacy Settings
WhatsApp has rolled out the updated group privacy settings globally. The new feature, which essentially provides you with additional control for who among your contacts can add you to a group. Users can choose from the options of ‘Nobody’, ‘My contacts’, and ‘My contacts except’ in their settings menu. To find the updated privacy settings for groups, you need to go to the Settings menu of your WhatsApp and tap Account > Privacy > Groups.
4. Call Waiting Support
Now, even if you are on a call on the phone, no need to worry, you can still receive the incoming call on the app. Earlier, users did not have the option to accept calls while talking on a call. Until now, there was no provision to show ‘call waiting’ notification when someone is trying to call while the receiver is in the middle of another call.
5. WhatsApp Lock Feature
Recently, WhatsApp launched the ‘Authentication system’ in Android and iOS Apps. The App now offers the possibility to choose when the user has to authenticate his identity in order to use the app. Users can secure their chat by going to Settings>Account>Privacy>Fingerprint Lock.
